A WONDERFUL DAY AT THE LAKE
MARCH 18, 2012

Mexicans, Americans, Canadians were having family picnics, young and old couples were walking the malecon, hand in hand, dad's were teaching their kids how to play basketball, people were fishing, swimming, water skiing, flying kites, an ultra light aircraft was flying less than 50 above the water and tour boats were giving sight seeing rides out in the lake. The temperature was 82, the sky blue, the wind, maybe blowing about 3 to 5 mph. This is the way things should be around the world.

Understanding the Cartels and How it Effects Expats

Lake Chapala, like much of Mexico, has now been the target of extreme, inhuman, Cartel violence. That being said, the Local Government, the State Government, the Federal Police have all come together to work toward ensuring the public saftey.
The violence that the U.S. media portrays is real. It is also true that the cartels have begun targeting innocent Mexicans. They attempt to recruit them as sellers, couriers, or mules to transport drugs to the United States. Refusing to join the cartels, many times results in their death. What goes unsaid is that this violence is perpertrated against members of competing cartels, drug users, drug sellers and members of cartels, all over Mexico. Expats are not targets. As Chicago residents know places in Chicago that they should avoid, the same is true in Mexico. Expats still travel where ever they want in Mexico and we really don't know anyone who has fear of such travel. Traveling at night is one thing most expats choose to avoid. As with anywhere NOB, everyone learns the cautions they should take and from there, they continue to live normal, tranquil lives while enjoying the worlds 2nd best climate. The DVD will provide you with actucal testimony's of Expats about they're opinions of the cartels, violence and their lives at Lake Chapala. I encourage you to rent this DVD today to see the real story of life in Mexico. The 7 day rental is only $1.99. Purchase it for only 11.99.

A personal note. Mothers day 2012
My wife and I had attended the Lakeside Presbyterian Church followed by a Mothers Day Potluck dinner. Later that afternoon, we decided to go swimming in our courtyard pool. Still in our bathing suits, we sat on our patio beside the pool, enjoying a glass of wine and a few appetizers. The stereo was playhing our favorite music in the background. The sky was clear, a slight breeze was blowing and the temperature was 84. Our couryard is filled with flowers that bloom year round, along with bannana and lime trees, yuccas, palms and a lovely foutain that cascades into a small fish pond. We both commented, almost simultaneously, living here is like living at a resort. We love it.

The Lake Chapala DVD is a comprehensive look at why more ex-patriots live at Lake Chapala than any other place in Mexico. Ex pats at Lake Chapala enjoy very active lives and this video will show you the many things that keep them busy. If you want to be bored living at Lake Chapala, you've got to plan it a week ahead of time. Year around outdoor dining, walking the beautiful Lakeside malecons, going to or participating in the many outdoor events, such as, the 33rd annual Chile Cook off of watching the Hot Air Paper Balloon Regatta or attending the Ballet de Folklorico, are just a few of the things that entertain and keep them busy. You'll go with them as they travel, explore and play at forested mountain resorts, Historic Colonial Cities, World Heritage Sites, Ancient Pyramids and a secluded beach hideaway. You'll visit the town of Tequila, the town that created Tequila. When visiting Morelia, you'll learn that the very first University and Music Conservatory in all of the Americas began in this World Heritage City. Guadalajara, just an hour from Lake Chapala, is another Historic Colonial City and is now Mexico's Simi Valley. Tonala and Tlaquepaque, suburbs of Guadalajara are major manufacturing, exporting and retail centers and magnets for Lake Chapala shoppers.

THE "LAKE CHAPALA DVD" is produced independently and includes entertaining and informative narration and authentic Mexican Music by the Chapala Group, Melodia Acustica, World Music.

If you have ever considered a Vacation in Mexico or maybe Retirement in Mexico or if you are studying Spanish or Mexico at school, you should see this video! It will give you a you a realistic look at the Mexico the media doesn't tell you about.
